Let’s work together
Interested in commissioning or hiring me for your idea? I’d be thrilled to work with you! Read through the info below and fill out the form to get started.
Commission Information
-
My process for creating watercolor and pen works is as follows:
Inquiry and Sketch Exploration
After receiving your inquiry for a commission, I send a preliminary email detailing current timelines, additional questions, references, colors, and details to include in your piece. Once we’ve chatted and I’ve gathered all of the relevant information, I start the sketching phase.
Sketch Mockup Review
Once I have sketches in a finished state, I send over a mockup of the composition for your review. In the case of large or more complex commissions, I send over multiple sketches and discuss your preferences based on the compositions. We decide on one, then I move to the drawing and painting phases. I will update you on changes to the timeline based on the duration of our preliminary sketch review. If we happen to go through multiple rounds of revisions, your timeline for completion may shift, but I will keep you in the loop should that happen.
Transfer, Drawing, and Painting
I send progress updates when meaningful progress has been made on your piece. Progress updates fall within the timeline we established (but can shift based on revisions, external factors outside our control, acts of God, etc.)
An important note: if revisions are required on your piece after the Transfer, Drawing, and Painting phase that constitute a rework of 60% or more of the approved piece concept, an additional deposit will be requested.Completion and Handoff
Once your piece is completed, I will send photos of the final piece and arrange pickup/dropoff. The final payment must be made the morning of pickup/dropoff. I can provide recommendations for framing locally, and if a piece is under 25”x25”, I will cut matting for free if you would like.
-
The most common dimensions I work within for pieces are 22”x30” and 11”x15.” I can also work on sizes as large as 40” tall and 100”+ wide (or 40“ wide and 100”+ tall for a vertical piece); note that timelines for large scale pieces are longer than average.
-
Email will be our primary means of major communication about your commission. I’m always happy to hop on a phone call or Google Meets, and will send a recap email of our discussion afterwards.
Note: I typically send “like” emails in the same thread, i.e. if I’ve sent a preliminary sketch in an email, any updates to that sketch will be sent in the same email thread. I send ping emails weekly, to make sure nothing gets lost/buried, but it’s always a safe bet to check our prior threads for updates/communication.
If you have preferences on email communication (cc’ing individuals, sending during certain times, etc.) please let me know during our initial discussions so I can accomodate while we work together. -
Pricing is highly dependent on size, complexity, and usecase of the piece commissioned.
Small pieces are anything from 5-14” wide and 5-16” tall. I typically do not work on pieces smaller than 5×5”, and smaller pieces are more limited in complexity.
Large pieces are anything above 14” wide and 16” tall.
Commissions for commercial works (print, digital, advertising, or broadcast) upon request. -
Delivery of artwork is free within the Huntsville - Madison area. For travel greater than 20 miles, there will be a small fee for travel.
Shipping costs through FedEx or UPS will be calculated upon deciding size of the commission, and will be factored into the total cost of commission. Shipping costs must be paid within the initial deposit, to cover shipping materials and coordination. Packages will be insured for total cost of the commission itself - in the case of documented damages to the package you will be compensated for the loss from the insured shipping company.
